1983 – 1988 Denny’s-
Started out as line cook. Soon began training other cooks, then cooks for other Denny’s. Promoted to Assistant Manager a year later.
Denny’s has a great training program. I went to lots of classes and learned a lot about managing people. Interviewed prospective employee candidates, reviewed employee performances, scheduled all positions for 24/7 restaurant, trained personnel and ensured customer satisfaction, restaurant cleanliness and unit profitability during entire shift. Several of the units I worked at had a Full bar, so I am pretty good at inventorying liquor every week. After 5 years, I felt I had paid my dues and was ready for new horizons.
